Social Responsibility

Driving sustainable development
in our communities

Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002, (Act 28 of 2002 as amended)
(MPRDA) requires mining companies to apply for mining rights from the state by
submitting inter alia Social and Labour Plans (SLP’s) for approval by the Department of
Mineral Resources (DMR) as conditions to operate.

Tshipi develops its Social and Labour Plans in line with Social and Labour Plan guidelines
as provided by the DMR and conducting assessments to determine the developmental
needs in collaboration with mining communities. Priority projects contained in district and
local municipality Integrated Development Plans that have a potential to contribute
meaningfully to the development of our communities are prioritized and
considered for inclusion in our Social and Labour Plans.
