The key objective of Tshipi’s involvement in the Heuningvlei Clinic project was to contribute, in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including the Northern Cape Department of Health, Independent Development Trust, and the John Taolo District Municipality, to the quality of healthcare services, in the communities where it operates. The Heuningvlei Clinic which complies with the national core standards of quality health care, as well as the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) standards, replaces a former health care facility, that was located close to an asbestos dump which posed a health risk. Through this project Tshipi believes that quality of life will be improved, temporary jobs will a be created and there will be a noticeable contribution to the alleviation of poverty.

Tshipi deems the creation of infra-structure as an important factor for economic growth and poverty alleviation in the communities where it operates. The Duerham Road project brought about a much more integrated society in the sense of community members utilising the road to access schools, healthcare facilities as well trade centers. Road safety within the community has improved a great deal and SMMEs also benefited from the project by expanding their skill sets and capacity during the execution of this project.

Through our Social Labour Plan Local Economic development initiatives, we invest in creating a conducive learning environment for learners in our communities through provision of necessities such as water, sanitation and functional classrooms that support learning. We believe that these learners will in turn lift the Tshipi banner in the future and bring about change in their communities thereby ensuring that our social license to operate is maintained.
